Livros Aconchegados | Snuggled Books
Lembram-se de vos falar de umas capas para livros que eu e a minha mãe fizemos na minha estreia nas costuras com a máquina?
Pois é, não foi fácil, mas acabamos por conseguir e penso que o resultado final foi bastante satisfatório!
Comecei por procurar o tecido que queria para forrar os dois livros. Optei pelo algodão, por ser mais fácil de trabalhar e por dar um ar simples e natural a tudo o que envolve. Em relação à cor e por se tratarem de dois livros de culinária, optei pelas cores que tenho na minha cozinha, o verde claro e o branco.
Lavado que estava o tecido, era tempo de o começar a trabalhar. O que fizemos, basicamente, foi medir a largura e o comprimento de cada um dos livros, sem esquecer a lombada. Envolvemos o tecido nos livros e fizemos as nossas marcações. Depois dos cortes certos e com a ajuda do ferro, vincamos as zonas a coser, sem esquecer as baínhas. Entretanto, foi saltar para a máquina de costura e coser, coser, coser. No final ainda adicionamos, a cada capa, uma fita de um azulão bem forte, para marcar as páginas das belas receitas que estes livros têm.
O resultado são dois livros da Pantagruel com uma roupagem nova e bem catitas, a condizer com a minha cozinha, cujas capas estavam bastante degradadas por os mesmos terem mais de 35 anos.

Remember when I talk about some book covers that my mom and I made?
Well, it was not easy, but we did it and I think the result was very satisfying!
I started to look for fabric. I chose cotton because it is easier to work and give a simple and natural air to all that involves. Because they are two cookbooks, I chose the colors I have in my kitchen: the light green and white.
Once the tissue washed, was time to start working. What we did basically was to measure the width and length of each of the books, not forgetting the spine. We wrapped the fabric on the books and made our marks. After some cuts and with the help of iron, we jump to the sewing machine and sew, sew, sew. In the end we added to each cover a blue ribbon, to mark the beautiful recipes that exist in these books.
The result is two 35 years old books of Pantagruel with a fine new clothing, to match my kitchen.
See if they are fine?

De volta ao blogue | Back to the blog
De volta ao blogue... Depois de mais de um mês ausente, eis-me aqui de novo!
Pelo meio houve um casamento lindo e uma lua de mel inesquecível... Correu tudo muito bem e foi maravilhoso. É tão bom casar com o homem da nossa vida!!!!!!
Entretanto temos que voltar às rotinas do dia-a-dia, ao trabalho e afins, mas onde não me custa mesmo nada regressar é ao blogue e às minhas costurices, como costumo dizer.
Assim e como há poucos dias nasceu uma linda princesa chamada Sofia, tratei logo de lhe fazer uma bela manta para se aconchegar no colo do Papá e da Mamã. A mesma já está concluída, por isso, fiquem com uma pequena amostra daquilo que é esta doce manta de bebé. Duas cores, estreia para mim e muito carinho, é tudo o que é preciso para fazê-la.
Um beijinho Papás e Parabéns mais uma vez pela linda princesa.

Back to the blog ... After more than a month away, here I am again!
In between there was a beautiful wedding and an unforgettable honeymoon ... Everything went very well and it was wonderful. It is so good to marry the man of your life!!!
Now we must return to the routines of day-to-day work, but where it does not cost me anything is to return to my blog.
Just a few days ago were born a beautiful princess named Sofia, and immediately I start to make her a nice blanket to curl up in the lap of Mom and Dad. The same is complete, so stay with a small sample of what is this sweet baby blanket. Two colors, first time for me, and a lot of love, is all that it takes to do it.
